Traffic Study Results

These are some of the results of the traffic study conducted along Astor Drive during May 11 - 14, 2004. To qualify for the City's traffic calming project, we needed to show an average of more than 500 cars per day were traveling the roads and that the 85th percentile speed was at least 7 mph over the 25 mph limit. Based on the traffic study, we do qualify.

About the 85th Percentile Speed:

  • The speed that 85% of motorists drive at or below.
  • Put another way, 15% of drivers go faster than this speed.
  • Considered the speed at which reasonable, responsible drivers drive.
  • The speed standard typically used in traffic engineering design.
