Project Steps

The City has established the following steps for implementing a traffic calming project.  As of early 2006, the City had approved funding and selected contractors to begin work on the project.  Look for installations to begin as summer approaches.

  1. Neighborhood contacts the Traffic Division about a problem and requests a traffic study.
  2. Traffic Division conducts a study and prepares a proposal.
  3. A neighborhood meeting is held to discuss the City's proposal.
  4. The City prepares a support petition for affected residents to sign.
  5. The neighborhood collects signatures and returns the petition to the City.
  6. The Traffic Division verifies the signatures to see if there is at least 60% support.
  7. Plans are finalized and a contractor is selected.
  8. The project is built when funds are available.
