The City has established the following steps for implementing a traffic
calming project. As of early 2006, the City had approved funding and selected contractors to begin work on the project. Look for installations to begin as summer
approaches.
- Neighborhood contacts the Traffic Division about a problem and requests a traffic study.
- Traffic Division conducts a study and prepares a proposal.
- A neighborhood meeting is held to discuss the City's proposal.
- The City prepares a support petition for affected residents to sign.
- The neighborhood collects signatures and returns the petition to the City.
- The Traffic Division verifies the signatures to see if there is at least 60% support.
- Plans are finalized and a contractor is selected.
- The project is built when funds are available.
