Astor Traffic Issue

Next ->
As many of you have noticed, many drivers speed along Astor Drive and Cascade Boulevard, creating very unsafe conditions for children walking to school and to the pool.  We have asked the city's Traffic Control Division for help in solving this problem and they have proposed a solution as part of their new Traffic Calming program.

As a first step, the City of Norman completed a study of traffic patterns along Astor Drive and Cascade Boulevard.  On January 11th, 2005, Mike Rayburn and Angelo Lombardo met with the Boards of Cascade and Berkeley to propose some "Traffic Calming" methods that the City could install to help slow down drivers.

As of early 2006, the City had approved funding and selected contractors to begin work on the project.  Look for installations to begin as summer approaches.

These web pages contain the results of the survey and a summary of the City's latest proposal.  Please use the "next" link or index above to review the proposal.
